Lianhe Zaobao reported that U.S. Commerce Secretary Lutnick said that the United States and China have finalized the trade understanding reached in Geneva last month, and said that the United States will cancel trade countermeasures as long as China delivers rare earths. Lutnick said in an interview with Bloomberg News on Thursday (June 26) that the China deal was signed two days ago and reorganized all the terms listed in the Sino-US trade negotiations, including China's commitment to provide rare earths for various uses, which can be widely used in various fields such as wind turbines and jet aircraft. Lutnick said: "They (China) will provide us (the United States) with rare earths," and once Beijing does so, "we will withdraw our countermeasures." U.S. President Trump said at a White House event earlier on Thursday: "We just signed with China yesterday," but did not explain what he meant. Rare earths are indispensable raw materials in the fields of defense, electric vehicles, and the electronics industry, and are also one of Beijing's trump cards in this round of tariff war against the United States. In response to the reciprocal tariffs announced by the Trump administration on April 2, China announced a series of countermeasures on April 4, including export controls on seven categories of medium and heavy rare earth-related items, including samarium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium, lutetium, scandium, and yttrium.

The Sino-US tariff trade dispute has been negotiated and is in a period of easing. According to news analysis, the key point of the negotiations between the two countries lies in China's rare earth exports, and China must have more bargaining chips. However, whether new conflicts and variables will occur in the future is still unknown.
